Liner notes

The Long Thaw was written over one slow winter when everything seemed frozen, including me. I brought in a harpist and an oboist and let them breathe around the piano, and suddenly the songs had room for weather. Some of these are about endings I was not ready for, and some are about being kind at the end. The title track never made it, but the whole record is the thaw.
