Lyrics
Sky turned gray at a quarter to five Windshield speckled, now the whole street's alive Wipers swing left, wipers swing right Tapping out a rhythm in the evening light Brake lights bleeding red across the wet Puddles throwing mirrors, city's dripping sweat Coffee in the cup holder, bass in the doors Rain on the roof like a drum on the floor Don't need a metronome Got the rain to bring me home Wipers keep the beat, left right, left right Rain on the glass, got the city in my sight Slow roll, soul rolling, let the water fall Wipers keep the beat, I'm in time with it all Bus stop crowd under a shared umbrella Delivery rider flying, yelling "Excuse me, fella!" Neon on the asphalt, pink and blue Every crosswalk glowing like a runway too Turn the volume up when the thunder talks Hazards on for the folks who walk Nobody's rushing now, everybody's tuned To the hiss of the tires and the gray-sky tune Don't need a metronome Got the rain to bring me home Wipers keep the beat, left right, left right Rain on the glass, got the city in my sight Slow roll, soul rolling, let the water fall Wipers keep the beat, I'm in time with it all Bridge lights shimmer on the river below Steam off the manhole, that's the city's glow Hoodie up, window cracked an inch Smell of wet concrete, I don't even flinch Long day behind me, long night ahead But the rain say easy, so I ease my head Every drop a snare and every puddle a kick Traffic's just a band and I'm the one who picks Slow it down, slow it down Hear the whole town hum Rain on the roof, rain on the hood Everybody's heading home Wipers keep the beat, left right, left right Rain on the glass, got the city in my sight Slow roll, soul rolling, let the water fall Wipers keep the beat, I'm in time with it all Left right, left right Rain on the glass tonight Wipers keep the beat Take me home easy
