Lyrics
The gym is empty now Streamers on the floor The music has gone quiet Nobody at the door One light still humming Over the basketball line The dance is over, yes But the echo is mine Gym lights going down Slow, slow, going down Footsteps in the hall Fading out of town Gym lights going down Let the bass hang low The night was sweet and short And now it's time to go Paper cups on the bleachers A balloon against the wall Somebody lost a ribbon Somewhere in the hall The speakers still are warm The floor still holds the beat I stand here for a moment Where the dancers used to meet Gym lights going down Slow, slow, going down Footsteps in the hall Fading out of town Gym lights going down Let the bass hang low The night was sweet and short And now it's time to go Echo, echo Let it ring Echo, echo Of everything One more breath of the bass Then the quiet comes in Gym lights going down Slow, slow, going down Footsteps in the hall Fading out of town Gym lights going down Let the bass hang low The night was sweet and short And now it's time to go Lights going down Lights going down Goodnight, goodnight
