Lyrics
Sign says closed, the light goes low Shutter down, the street is slow Penny sweets in jars at rest Old man counts the day's request Shutter down, shutter down Quiet over our little town Corner shop, you kept us well Goodnight, goodnight, ring the bell Milk and bread and morning news Credit book and kindly views Every neighbour knew his name Every evening much the same Shutter down, shutter down Quiet over our little town Corner shop, you kept us well Goodnight, goodnight, ring the bell Echo in the empty aisle Echo, echo, rest a while Keys turn slow, the lock is tight Streetlamp hums its amber light Tomorrow he will open wide Tonight the town sleeps outside Shutter down, shutter down Quiet over our little town Corner shop, you kept us well Goodnight, goodnight, ring the bell Goodnight, goodnight Ring the bell
