Spin Cycle Love
by Dre Santos
“A laundromat is the most unglamorous place to fall for someone, which is exactly why I had to write it. Quarters, soap, a little flirting, and a hook that spins right along with the dryer.”

Lyrics
Sunday evening at the laundromat Quarters in my pocket and my favorite hat Machine number six has a hum I know Warm fluorescent hum and a soft yellow glow Then you walk in with a basket on your hip Mismatched socks and a little sly lip You ask if the dryer takes dimes or coins Now my whole world's tumbling, I lose my poise Wash and fold, wash and fold Something in the air is turning gold Spin cycle love, round and round Heart in the dryer making a sound Spin cycle love, warm and slow Every time you smile, I forget to go Folding fitted sheets like a two-man dance You hold two corners, I get my chance Fabric softener smell in the evening air Neon sign flickering, I don't even care You share your detergent, I share my bench We trade little stories through the dryer's drench Turns out you're from the next block down Two years neighbors, never knew the sound Wash and fold, wash and fold Something in the air is turning gold Spin cycle love, round and round Heart in the dryer making a sound Spin cycle love, warm and slow Every time you smile, I forget to go Timer hits zero, clothes are warm and dry But neither of us moves, we just let time fly You write your number on a dryer sheet Little paper promise, soft and sweet I carry my basket like a bouquet of flowers Walk you to your door for a couple of hours Next Sunday, same time, I'll bring the quarters You bring the smile, we'll bring the order Some folks meet at a fancy place I found mine with a basket case Clean clothes, clean slate, easy grace Love showed up in a laundry space Spin cycle love, round and round Heart in the dryer making a sound Spin cycle love, warm and slow Every time you smile, I forget to go Spin cycle, spin cycle love Warm and slow, warm and slow
