Primera Escarcha

by Max Solano

Four quiet late-career songs: a gate, a lighthouse, an old love met again and the first frost.

Tracks

  1. 1. Goodbye Garden GateThe gate still creaks the same old way, and the apple tree has plenty to say. I left the creak in the mix on purpose.pop, nostalgic pop, acoustic pop2:47
  2. 2. Lighthouse Lullaby WaltzA little light on the water, turning slow, gold and white. A waltz for anyone still out on the dark sea.latin pop, waltz pop, dreamy pop2:57
  3. 3. Ten Years Late, Right on TimeSame crooked smile, a little grey, a little gold, and a coffee gone cold. Ten years late and right on time, which is how love usually arrives.soul-pop, nostalgic soul, hushed soul4:11
  4. 4. First Frost, Soft LightWhite on every leaf and the morning holding its breath. I closed the record here, softly, with the guitar I started on.soul-pop, wintry soul, hushed soul2:52

Liner notes

After the big tour I went home, sat in the garden and wrote the quieter side of the smile. A creaking gate, a lighthouse waltz, an old love at a window with grey in her hair, and the first frost on the leaves. It's the same nylon guitar from the balcony in 2011, a little more worn and a lot more grateful. The handclap is still there, if you listen for it in the last chorus.
