Ruta Nocturna

by Max Solano

Five songs from the road: night buses, airports, apologies and a dad's steady hands.

Tracks

  2. 2. Crosstown Owl Bus MamboNumber forty-nine rolls across the sleeping city, and the band rolls with it. Hands on your knees, the clap comes in on the second chorus.dance-pop, mambo-pop, handclap pop2:53
  3. 3. I'm Sorry, Here's a PastryI was wrong, I know it, and a pastry says it better than I do. The horns say sorry too, a little louder than needed.latin pop, smooth pop2:08
  4. 4. Baggage Claim CarouselLanded late and feeling fine, because sunshine at the passport line forgives everything. A tune for tired travellers who still smile.dance-pop, tropical pop2:21
  5. 5. Dad's Hands on the Steering WheelMy father's hands are slower now, and I notice every curve of the road. I sing it plainly because he would hate a fuss.soul-pop, nostalgic soul2:53

Liner notes

I spent most of 2019 in buses, taxis and airport lounges, and these songs came out of the windows. A teacher who changed my life gets a thank-you, a pastry gets an apology, and my father gets the last track. We cut it fast between shows, and the owl bus on track two is a real route I rode home for years.
