by Dusty Calloway

Five quiet songs written in an empty house while the road was closed.

  1. 1. Rush Hour RosaryI used to curse every tail light in rush hour, and now I count them like beads. Slowing down turned out to be a kind of prayer.gospel rock, slow rock3:23
  2. 2. Last Walk Through the Empty RoomsThe boxes were taped, the truck was running at the curb, and I couldn't make myself leave the kitchen. So I wrote this instead.rock ballad, moving-day song4:00
  3. 3. Creased Down the MiddleA creased photograph in the glovebox, under the maps. I never learned who took it, and I've stopped needing to know.hushed rock, keepsake song4:11
  4. 4. Room 214, End of the Long HallwayCarpet worn to a thread and brass numbers glowing dim at the end of a long hallway. I wrote it in a hotel and finished it half asleep.dream rock, motel ballad3:32
  5. 5. Nobody Asked Me How I Did ItI got up at five for thirty years and nobody ever asked how I did it. This is me answering anyway.warm rock, working-class ballad4:05

Liner notes

When the tour stopped in 2020 I sat in a half-packed house and wrote small songs, no choruses to shout. I recorded them at the kitchen table with one microphone, a Telecaster and the refrigerator humming in the background. I left the hum in.
