Overtime Blues

by Earl Dupree & The Late Shift

A thirty-year sideman steps to the microphone and sings his first song live, one chair at a time.

Liner notes

We cut this one live in two days, all of us in the same room, no fixing it afterward. For thirty years I stood in the back with my hands on somebody else's song, and now here I was out front with my own, a little scared and a lot grateful. The Late Shift kept the groove low so my voice had somewhere soft to land. If you hear the room breathing, that's because it was.
