Lyrics
You gave me a tape with a hand-drawn cover Twelve best songs you had ever found I only had one blank cassette And a band to record in the basement downtown I hit the button and I didn't think I just taped right over your songs Now there's thirty seconds of a drum solo And I knew right then I was wrong I'm sorry, I'm sorry, I'm sorry Hey Sorry I taped over your mixtape I owe you a song and a hug Sorry I taped over your mixtape I'll make you a new one, love Twelve new songs and a hand-drawn cover Every track is for you Sorry I taped over your mixtape Please say we're still cool You didn't yell and you didn't cry You just raised an eyebrow and sighed I stood there holding a plastic case With a drum solo recorded inside I called my band, I said we need help We need a fresh new tune So we wrote you a song in a single night It's the best one we've ever made I'm sorry, I'm sorry, I'm sorry Hey Sorry I taped over your mixtape I owe you a song and a hug Sorry I taped over your mixtape I'll make you a new one, love Twelve new songs and a hand-drawn cover Every track is for you Sorry I taped over your mixtape Please say we're still cool Press record Press play Press rewind And start again Sorry I taped over your mixtape I owe you a song and a hug Sorry I taped over your mixtape I'll make you a new one, love Twelve new songs and a hand-drawn cover Every track is for you Sorry I taped over your mixtape Please say we're still cool Please say we're still cool
