Lyrics
Ladder on his shoulder, bag of bulbs Walking down the lane when the town is dim One by one he climbs up high Changing out the dark for a little gold Light it up, mender, light it up One more lamp for the long way home Light it up, mender, light it up Nobody walks alone Rain on the rungs, rain on his cap He whistles low and the wires hum Every flicker he fixes up Is a small warm door for somebody late Light it up, mender, light it up One more lamp for the long way home Light it up, mender, light it up Nobody walks alone Somebody's coming off the night shift Somebody's lost and a long way out The lamp comes on and the street feels near Somebody's glad it's there Light it up, mender, light it up One more lamp for the long way home Light it up, mender, light it up Nobody walks alone Light it up, mender Nobody walks alone
