Lyrics
The crowd went home an hour ago The floodlights hum and fade I walk the long concrete steps Where thousands stood and prayed My boots ring on the steel rail The echo rolls like thunder I came to turn the power off But I stay and stand in wonder One more song One more song Lights down on section ninety Hear the echo sing Lights down on section ninety We still own everything The seats are empty but the walls remember Every voice that rang Lights down on section ninety Stay and sing along I played here as a young man In a band no one had heard We opened up the evening And we barely spoke a word Now I check the doors and ladders For the folks who come to play But the stage still holds my footsteps From a long forgotten day One more song One more song Lights down on section ninety Hear the echo sing Lights down on section ninety We still own everything The seats are empty but the walls remember Every voice that rang Lights down on section ninety Stay and sing along Carry the sound out through the gate Carry it down the street Every heart that beat in here Is still a steady beat I switch the last light off tonight And the dark comes down like rain But I hear a million voices Calling out my name I lock the gate and turn around And I smile at the sky Tomorrow they come back again And we'll all sing, you and I Lights down on section ninety Hear the echo sing Lights down on section ninety We still own everything The seats are empty but the walls remember Every voice that rang Lights down on section ninety Stay and sing along
