Lyrics
I lay awake till three Turning the question round The ceiling had no answer The pillow made no sound Then I rose and washed my face And looked into the glass The man looking back at me Had known it all, alas Three A.M. and the answer came Quiet as a candle flame I'd known it all along Just needed the night to be long Three A.M. and the answer came Yes, I'll go, I'll go I packed no bag, I wrote no list I just put on my coat The street was blue and empty And I whistled a little note Three A.M. and the answer came Quiet as a candle flame I'd known it all along Just needed the night to be long Three A.M. and the answer came Yes, I'll go, I'll go Fear was just a shadow Cast by a small lamp Step toward the light, friend And watch it walk away Three A.M. and the answer came Quiet as a candle flame I'd known it all along Just needed the night to be long Three A.M. and the answer came Yes, I'll go, I'll go Yes, I'll go Yes, I'll go
