Lyrics
I left the house in autumn With a coat and a single case The road was long and lovely But it never knew my face I kept the porch light for you Though you were never far I kept the porch light for you Under one small star The long way back is quiet Still I walk it, door by door I kept the porch light for you And I'll keep it evermore The train was slow and golden The window held the rain I counted every station And I said your name again I kept the porch light for you Though you were never far I kept the porch light for you Under one small star The long way back is quiet Still I walk it, door by door I kept the porch light for you And I'll keep it evermore If you are walking home tonight Look for the yellow glow It is not much, it is only mine But it was always so I kept the porch light for you Though you were never far I kept the porch light for you Under one small star The long way back is quiet Still I walk it, door by door I kept the porch light for you And I'll keep it evermore I kept the porch light I kept it for you
