Lyrics
Dressed up in my best for the Friday night show Band was running late and the rain started to flow Lost my ticket in the queue, lost my shoe in the street Still I'm smiling at you with the puddles at our feet Oh the taxi drove right by Neither one of us would cry One umbrella for two, and the taxi's gone We'll walk it slow, we'll walk it slow, we'll sing our own song The night went wrong but the night went sweet Rain on the pavement keeping time with our feet Dance hall was closed when we got to the door So we danced on the corner by the corner store Pie shop lady laughed and she handed us tea Said the best nights are the ones that were never meant to be Oh the taxi drove right by Neither one of us would cry One umbrella for two, and the taxi's gone We'll walk it slow, we'll walk it slow, we'll sing our own song The night went wrong but the night went sweet Rain on the pavement keeping time with our feet Who needs a ballroom, who needs a stage When your hand in my hand is the only page Streetlight shining like a golden bell Everything's alright, everything's well One umbrella for two, and the taxi's gone We'll walk it slow, we'll walk it slow, we'll sing our own song The night went wrong but the night went sweet Rain on the pavement keeping time with our feet Walk it slow, walk it slow Home is where the two of us go
