Lyrics
The tables are set and the candles are lit The best man is shuffling his cards He's cleared his throat twice, he has dropped his notes once And the whole room is leaning in hard There's a ring on a finger, a tear in an eye And a cousin who's dancing too soon So lift up your glasses, you friends and you family The evening belongs to the groom Here's to the years that you don't know yet Here's to the mornings still to come Raise a glass to the two of you Gold in the light and the whole room singing Raise a glass to the two of you Love is the bell that the day is ringing May the roof be strong and the kettle be warm May the quarrels be small and the laughter be long Raise a glass to the two of you Here's to the song, here's to the song She walked down the aisle with the sun in her hair And he forgot how to breathe for a bar Now the aunts are all weeping, the uncles are beaming And the band is out tuning a guitar So here's to the ones who set up all the chairs And the ones who drove far through the night To stand in this room full of flowers and music And see two hearts hold on tight Here's to the years that you don't know yet Here's to the mornings still to come Raise a glass to the two of you Gold in the light and the whole room singing Raise a glass to the two of you Love is the bell that the day is ringing May the roof be strong and the kettle be warm May the quarrels be small and the laughter be long Raise a glass to the two of you Here's to the song, here's to the song When the cake is all eaten and the lanterns burn low And the last of the guests have gone home May you find in each other the same quiet gladness That says you are never alone Raise a glass to the two of you Gold in the light and the whole room singing Raise a glass to the two of you Love is the bell that the day is ringing May the roof be strong and the kettle be warm May the quarrels be small and the laughter be long Raise a glass to the two of you Here's to the song, here's to the song Here's to the two of you Here's to the song
