Lyrics
Coffee's hot at the diner bar Pen on a napkin, I've come so far Dear Mum, I'm fine, I'm eating well There's so much more that I can't tell Dear Mum, the night is long But I'm writing you this little song Counter light and a slice of pie Home is only a letter nigh Waitress tops up my cup again Says, you look like you need a friend I smile and I write another line Tell her the stars are doing fine Dear Mum, the night is long But I'm writing you this little song Counter light and a slice of pie Home is only a letter nigh Sign it with love, sign it with care Leave a tip, leave a prayer Fold it up and hold it near Morning's coming, I'm still here Dear Mum, the night is long But I'm writing you this little song Counter light and a slice of pie Home is only a letter nigh Dear Mum, dear Mum Love, your son
