Ride Share With a Stranger Singing

Lyrics

Flagged a cab outside the bar at a quarter past two
Driver had a radio and a tune he knew
He turned it up loud and he started to sing
And I'm not too proud to join in the thing

Windows down, city lights streaming
Nobody here but the dreamers

Oh, sing along, sing along, to a song we don't know
Two strangers in a taxi with the meter running slow
Sing along, sing along, 'til the sun comes up
A stranger's song is the best kind of company
Sing along, sing along, 'til the sun comes up

He's been driving thirty years of midnight fares
Heartbreakers, dreamers, and men in tuxedo chairs
Says the best ones are the ones who sing out loud
And forget for a minute they're lost in the crowd

Windows down, city lights streaming
Nobody here but the dreamers

Oh, sing along, sing along, to a song we don't know
Two strangers in a taxi with the meter running slow
Sing along, sing along, 'til the sun comes up
A stranger's song is the best kind of company
Sing along, sing along, 'til the sun comes up

We pulled up to my place and he turned off the key
Said, kid, that's the best fare I've had since the spring
I tipped him double and I hummed the last line
And I walked up the steps feeling fine

Some nights you need a friend, some nights a ride
Some nights it's just a tune and the road wide
And a voice in the front seat that says it's all right
Keep singing, keep singing into the night

Oh, sing along, sing along, to a song we don't know
Two strangers in a taxi with the meter running slow
Sing along, sing along, 'til the sun comes up
A stranger's song is the best kind of company
Sing along, sing along, 'til the sun comes up

A stranger's song, a stranger's song
Sing along, sing along
