Lyrics
Nothing happened Tuesday, nothing came to call No letter, no good news, no bell Yet I woke up laughing at the ceiling and the light And the whole day rang like a well-struck bell Don't ask me why, don't ask me why There's gold in the gutter and a lark in the sky Joy without a reason today Joy without a reason, hey! Sing it for the pigeons, sing it for the bread Sing it for the sky that went and turned to gold instead Joy without a reason today Let it spill and let it stay We don't need a cause, we don't need a clause Joy without a reason today The bus driver whistled, the baker gave a wink A child in a puddle took a bow The kettle did a little dance, the clouds went rolling by And I'm happy and I don't know how Don't ask me why, don't ask me why There's gold in the gutter and a lark in the sky Joy without a reason today Joy without a reason, hey! Sing it for the pigeons, sing it for the bread Sing it for the sky that went and turned to gold instead Joy without a reason today Let it spill and let it stay We don't need a cause, we don't need a clause Joy without a reason today Maybe joy is just a door left open Maybe it walks in when no one's keeping score Let it in, let it in, let it in It was knocking all along, so open up some more Joy without a reason today Joy without a reason, hey! Sing it for the pigeons, sing it for the bread Sing it for the sky that went and turned to gold instead Joy without a reason today Let it spill and let it stay We don't need a cause, we don't need a clause Joy without a reason today No reason, no reason Joy without a reason today
