Lyrics
My uncle gave it to my brother My brother gave it me Scratches on the body Stories in the key Now I've got a niece with eager hands And a grin as wide as day So I'll pass the guitar down the line And let her find her way Pass the guitar down the line Let every hand add a song Pass the guitar down the line Gratitude keeps it strong Every scratch a memory Every string a kindness shown Pass the guitar down the line So no one plays alone She strums a clumsy rhythm And I clap along in time She laughs at every wrong note And I think it's quite sublime Someone taught my uncle Someone taught him how And the chain goes on and on Right back to here and now Pass the guitar down the line Let every hand add a song Pass the guitar down the line Gratitude keeps it strong Every scratch a memory Every string a kindness shown Pass the guitar down the line So no one plays alone Thank you to the hands before Thank you to the hands to come Thank you for the wooden box That helps us find our hum Pass the guitar down the line Let every hand add a song Pass the guitar down the line Gratitude keeps it strong Every scratch a memory Every string a kindness shown Pass the guitar down the line So no one plays alone So no one plays alone So no one plays alone
