Lyrics
I found two stamps in the kitchen drawer Beside the string and the candle and the key I'll write you a card with a lullaby on it Since you're a long way away from me The porch is quiet, the swing hangs still The cat's asleep in your chair I keep your cup on the window sill And I leave the light on in there Hush now, hush now, wherever you lay The mail will carry it, come what may Two stamps and a lullaby, soft and slow Close your eyes, and let it go Home is a word on the envelope Sleep now, my darling, sleep in hope I'll tell you the moon is over the barn And the crickets are singing along I'll tell you the dog still waits at the gate And that I'm humming your favorite song Hush now, hush now, wherever you lay The mail will carry it, come what may Two stamps and a lullaby, soft and slow Close your eyes, and let it go Home is a word on the envelope Sleep now, my darling, sleep in hope Seal it with a kiss and a prayer Drop it where the road runs by It'll find you somewhere, I swear Under the same wide sky Hush now, hush now, wherever you lay The mail will carry it, come what may Two stamps and a lullaby, soft and slow Close your eyes, and let it go Home is a word on the envelope Sleep now, my darling, sleep in hope Sleep now, my darling, sleep in hope The light is on, the light is on
