Typhoon Night, Stay Inside

Lyrics

Wind is leaning on the window glass
Every siren far away goes past
Candles on the counter, lights are low
Radio says the worst is yet to go
You texted, are you safe, I said I'm here
Tape across the panes, the street is clear
Of everything except the pouring sky
Come sit by me and let the night go by

Nothing moving out there
Nowhere else to be

Typhoon night, stay inside
Let the whole sky cry, we're warm in here tonight
Typhoon night, hold on tight
Shutters shake, but you're my shelter, you're my light
Let it roar outside
Typhoon night, stay inside

Water in the bathtub, just in case
Phone at forty percent, we save the space
Blanket over shoulders, tea gone warm
You're the quiet center of the storm
Neighbors down the hall are knocking soft
Sharing bread and batteries, a candle's glow aloft
The city holds its breath, then we exhale
Every little kindness tells the tale

Nothing moving out there
Nowhere else to be

Typhoon night, stay inside
Let the whole sky cry, we're warm in here tonight
Typhoon night, hold on tight
Shutters shake, but you're my shelter, you're my light
Let it roar outside
Typhoon night, stay inside

And when the morning comes
Branches in the street
We'll open up the door
To a washed and quiet beat
But for now, just now
Close your eyes with me
The wind can sing its song
We'll be sleeping peacefully

Typhoon night, stay inside
Let the whole sky cry, we're warm in here tonight
Typhoon night, hold on tight
Shutters shake, but you're my shelter, you're my light
Let it roar outside
Typhoon night, stay inside

Stay inside
Stay inside
Typhoon night, we're alright
