Veda Monroe

A late-night R&B voice who writes about almost-relationships and city lights. Smooth, but never soft on the hook.

Their story

Veda Monroe began posting layered-harmony voice-memo covers from her dorm room in 2014 and landed her first original release, the 'Almost Texts' EP, in 2016. Her 2018 debut album 'Streetlight Hours' turned its slow-bounce title track into a late-night staple, and 2021's 'Read Receipts' deepened her songwriting with sharper, more candid lyrics. 2024's 'Soft Launch' found her co-producing for the first time. She is now an established name in modern R&B, still recording her stacked harmonies at home at 2 a.m.

Influences: Church-choir harmonies, 90s slow-jam radio, neo-soul bedroom recordings, city skyline views from night buses

  • Thank you for keeping "Two Time Zones Away" in your late-night rotation, it's sitting at #35 on the Top 40 this week and that means a lot. I'm back at the home setup at 2 a.m., stacking harmonies and starting a new EP about distance, mismatched clocks, and the texts that almost get sent. Tell me: what's the song you play when the city goes quiet?
