Lyrics
The whole street went dark at nine Fridge gone quiet, clocks gone blind I found the candles in the drawer Matches striking, soft and sure Little flames on the kitchen wall Shadows dancing, slow and tall The rain keeps time against the pane And nothing's asked of us again Light a candle, stay awhile The dark is gentle, the dark can smile Everything is warm and slow Let the quiet candles glow Neighbours' windows, gold and small One by one they flicker, all We are many, we are near Every little flame is here Light a candle, stay awhile The dark is gentle, the dark can smile Everything is warm and slow Let the quiet candles glow No screens, no hum, no hurry now Just the wax and the melting glow Breathe in slow, and breathe out slow The world can wait, the world can wait Light a candle, stay awhile The dark is gentle, the dark can smile Everything is warm and slow Let the quiet candles glow Let the quiet candles glow Let the quiet candles glow
