Lyrics
Night crew on the old steel bridge Brushes slow and the river below Grey on the rails, grey on the beams Paint it soft till the sun comes up Brush by brush, stroke by stroke Keep the bridge strong, keep it whole Brush by brush, stroke by stroke Take it slow Rain on the rivets, tea in a flask Radio low in the work-truck cab Cars go by like quiet stars Nobody sees the hands that care Brush by brush, stroke by stroke Keep the bridge strong, keep it whole Brush by brush, stroke by stroke Take it slow Somebody crosses and never knows Somebody mended it in the dark Little works that hold the world Carry us home Brush by brush, stroke by stroke Keep the bridge strong, keep it whole Brush by brush, stroke by stroke Take it slow Brush by brush Take it slow
