Lyrics
Late summer evening, the heat's gone soft Sandals on the pavement, hat tipped aloft Heading to the corner for a bottle of cream Nothing in a hurry, just a walking dream The sky is turning peach and the swifts are loud I'm a little bit happy, I'm a little bit proud Cool evening, corner store walk Say hello to everyone, stop and talk Cool evening, a fruit and a smile The long way home is worth the mile Cool evening, corner store walk Easy as a song Kids on their bikes with their ice cream cones Old men at the window trading telephones The grocer waves, he's got my usual Peaches and a paper, nothing unusual A breeze comes by like a friend I know And the street lamps flicker, one by one, aglow Cool evening, corner store walk Say hello to everyone, stop and talk Cool evening, a fruit and a smile The long way home is worth the mile Cool evening, corner store walk Easy as a song Swing the bag, swing the bag Hum along to the radio Step in time, step in time Let the whole day go Cool evening, corner store walk Say hello to everyone, stop and talk Cool evening, a fruit and a smile The long way home is worth the mile Cool evening, corner store walk Easy as a song Easy as a song Cool evening
