Red Heels on the Dashboard

Lyrics

Put my red heels on the dashboard, rolled the window down
Dust behind us, the sun sinking low out of town
You drive with one hand easy, the other holds mine
Saturday night is calling, and we've got the time

There's a dance hall down the highway with a neon crown
And a floor worn smooth by everyone who's come around

Red heels on the dashboard, honey, take me there
Slow and sweet and easy with the night air in my hair
Spin me through the parking lot, spin me through the door
Red heels on the dashboard, I don't need nothing more
Two-step in the headlights, let the band play on
Red heels on the dashboard till the dawn

You tipped your hat to the doorman, bought a ticket for two
Fiddle's warming up and I'm already lost in you
The floorboards know the rhythm of a thousand happy feet
And the jukebox plays a slow one, honey, don't miss a beat

Your hand low on my shoulder, your smile a little shy
Even the ceiling fan is turning round to watch us by

Red heels on the dashboard, honey, take me there
Slow and sweet and easy with the night air in my hair
Spin me through the parking lot, spin me through the door
Red heels on the dashboard, I don't need nothing more
Two-step in the headlights, let the band play on
Red heels on the dashboard till the dawn

When the last song's over and the lights come on
We'll drive home slow with the radio on
My head on your shoulder and my shoes in my hand
Best night of my life, and it's all by plan

Red heels on the dashboard, honey, take me there
Slow and sweet and easy with the night air in my hair
Spin me through the parking lot, spin me through the door
Red heels on the dashboard, I don't need nothing more
Two-step in the headlights, let the band play on
Red heels on the dashboard till the dawn

Red heels on the dashboard till the dawn
