Lyrics
I said I would come home Before the winter came The road was long and cold But I never changed my aim Now the kitchen lamp is glowing Through the window in the snow My mother stands there waiting Like she did so long ago I kept my promise, I am here The lamp is lit, the way is clear Hold me close, the long road ends Home is where the heart extends The table set for two A cup of something warm She says I knew you would And we stand there through the storm I kept my promise, I am here The lamp is lit, the way is clear Hold me close, the long road ends Home is where the heart extends Years may take us far away But a light can call us home Every word you ever said Is the road beneath my bones I kept my promise, I am here The lamp is lit, the way is clear Hold me close, the long road ends Home is where the heart extends I am here The lamp is lit
