Lighthouse Hum

by Rue Calloway-Voss

Five songs written between spin cycles, about lights that keep turning and clocks that quit.

Tracks

  1. 1. Lighthouse HumThe light goes round and round and so did my head. I wanted a riff that never quite finishes its turn.dream rock, sludge rock3:12
  2. 2. The Long Walk Home from the Wrong PartyA party where I knew nobody and walked home alone. The slow, wobbly groove is my feet on wet pavement.bluesy hard rock, slowcore3:56
  3. 3. Stopped at Ten to ThreeMy grandpa's watch stopped at ten to three and it has sat on that shelf ever since. I played this one almost whispering.slowcore, lo-fi grunge4:27
  4. 4. Porch Swing StaticA creaky swing, a slow night, and a fuzz pedal turned halfway down. It's the sound of not wanting to go inside.dream grunge, lo-fi3:48
  5. 5. Power Cut, Candle LitA storm took out the lights and we wrote this by candle. The ending is hushed on purpose, like blowing out a flame.candlelit grunge, slowcore2:59

Liner notes

After the first record I kept playing laundromats because the dryers were warm and nobody minded the noise. These five came out of long waits and short sets, with my guitar still out of tune and getting worse. The band changed twice during the sessions, and I think you can hear the room get used to each new face. It's quieter than the last one, but the loud parts hit harder because of it.
