  11. 11. Old Friend, Same Booth, Same PieFifteen years later, same booth, same pie, and the same easy way of picking up a conversation. It's the only song on the record that grooves.americana, shuffle, diner rock3:55

Liner notes

By 2012 people were finding me at shows with a dog-eared copy of the garage record and asking for songs I hadn't written yet. So I wrote them in motel rooms, with the ice machine humming through the wall. This time we had a real studio, a real piano, and a Hammond with a working Leslie, and I tried not to let any of it make me soft. It's a record about waking up at three in the morning and deciding to keep going.
