Keeper Waves Goodbye

by Moth Static

Six bright, rain-speckled songs, from a gratitude list to a first dance in a village hall.

Tracks

  1. 1. Gratitude List, Morning WalkA list of small good things, written on a morning walk with the window still open in my head. The first line is basically a diary entry.dream pop, indie pop3:08
  2. 2. Cap Tossed, Platform WindGown still on, running for the train, caps in hand. A very wet, very happy afternoon, caught on tape.dream pop, shoegaze3:13
  3. 3. Diploma Under My Arm, Rain ParadeA diploma under my arm and a parade of raindrops on the window. It's the closest we get to driving rock, which isn't very close.dream pop, synth pop3:02
  4. 4. Sprinkler Season, Running ThroughThe heatwave has the whole street slow, then someone turns on a sprinkler. It's the silliest song on the record and we won't apologise.lo-fi, bedroom pop3:15
  5. 5. Lamp Off at Sunrise, Keeper Waves GoodbyeThe keeper climbs the stairs, switches the lamp off and waves goodbye to the night. It's the title track in spirit, and it felt like a small farewell to all our nights.dream pop, ambient pop3:21
  6. 6. First Dance, Slow Guitar in the HallThe lights are low, the room is wide and you take my hand. We kept the guitar slow and let the tape wobble right at the end, on purpose.dream pop, slowcore3:07

Liner notes

Our newest, and probably our most contented. These six came together over a very light, very green spring, recorded in the flat with the same cracked four-track that started it all. There's graduation caps on a platform, sprinklers in a heatwave and a lighthouse keeper turning in for the morning. We ended it with a first dance because after fifteen years it felt right to finish on something slow and tender.
