Cartas y Recuerdos

by Max Solano

Old photographs, left-behind scarves and the quiet ache that follows a goodbye.

  4. 4. Call Me When You LandYou packed your bag, you kissed my cheek, and I'm still by the phone. A warm one, with a promise inside it.latin pop, bolero-pop2:52
  5. 5. First Rain on the Tin RoofThe first rain on a tin roof says hello with three taps. I tried to turn that sound into a dance.dance-pop, dreamy pop3:22

  10. 10. Right Goodbye, Gold LightWe said the thing we both knew across a little table, and it was the right goodbye. I wanted the light to stay gold, so I put it in the title.soul-pop, melancholy soul2:51

Liner notes

During the long quiet of 2020 I sat at the kitchen table and went through drawers: photographs, scarves, a tape in a shoebox. Cartas y Recuerdos is what came out. The brass stayed home, so it's mostly nylon guitar, a small rhythm section and a lot of room. I sang every song as if the person were sitting right across the table, and a few times they nearly were.
