Their story
Mara Voss spent her early twenties winning slam poetry contests in Chicago before a producer friend dropped a jazz-loop beat under one of her poems in 2022. The resulting self-released EP 'Open Mic Hours' went round the local scene, and her 2024 debut album 'Cold Open' earned a spot on the label with its razor-sharp multisyllabic verses. She is now a rising voice in lyrical rap, writing in the back of cafes between shifts.
Influences: Jazz-sample crates, slam poetry nights, 90s underground rap tapes, elevated train rumble
