Summer Coming On by the Lighthouse

Lyrics

School's out for the summer and we're packing up the van
Four guys and a lighthouse and a half-baked plan
Dad said "son, don't wander," Mama slipped me twenty bucks
We're heading for the coast with a guitar and some luck

Oh, summer's coming on, and we're never going back
Windows down, the road is ours, and nothing's off the track
We'll play until the lighthouse turns the whole horizon gold
Hey, we're young, we're loud, we're not too old
Summer's coming on, summer's coming on
Sing it for the ones who stayed, we'll sing it till we're gone

We found a beach town empty, sand blowing down the street
A little bar with Christmas lights and a stage the size of a seat
We played for ten whole people and a dog who howled along
And the bartender said "boys, you've got a song"

Oh, summer's coming on, and we're never going back
Windows down, the road is ours, and nothing's off the track
We'll play until the lighthouse turns the whole horizon gold
Hey, we're young, we're loud, we're not too old
Summer's coming on, summer's coming on
Sing it for the ones who stayed, we'll sing it till we're gone

And when the beam swept over us, we all went quiet then
Like it knew where we were headed, and where we'd been
We raised a cup to the old stone tower, to the school we left behind
To every kid who ever dreamed of something he could find

Oh, summer's coming on, and we're never going back
Windows down, the road is ours, and nothing's off the track
We'll play until the lighthouse turns the whole horizon gold
Hey, we're young, we're loud, we're not too old
Summer's coming on, summer's coming on
Sing it for the ones who stayed, we'll sing it till we're gone

Summer's coming on
Hey, hey, summer's coming on
