Lyrics
Sixteen and the keys in my palm feel heavy Dad in the passenger seat, tryna stay steady Seat belt clicked, mirrors set, check Turn the key, engine purring, what's next Left foot nowhere, right foot light Roll out the driveway, the sun's so bright Neighbors on the porch with the coffee and stare Little Tempo behind the wheel, handle with care Green light, green light, here we go Dad says breathe, so I take it slow Green light go, green light go Dad said breathe, now I'm in the flow Hands on the wheel, eyes on the road Green light go, watch me roll Green light go, green light go Every mile makes the nerves let go Windows down and the speakers loud Learner today, tomorrow I'm proud Stop sign ahead, I brake too hard Dad's coffee flying like a shooting star We both laugh, wipe the dash, go again Second try smooth, now I'm the man Roundabout spinning like a record on the deck Yield to the left, signal, no wreck Parking lot lines, I slide in clean Dad nods once, that's a perfect scene Green light, green light, here we go Dad says breathe, so I take it slow Green light go, green light go Dad said breathe, now I'm in the flow Hands on the wheel, eyes on the road Green light go, watch me roll Green light go, green light go Every mile makes the nerves let go Windows down and the speakers loud Learner today, tomorrow I'm proud Everybody's first time is shaky Everybody's first mile is wavy But you find your lane, you find your pace A smile on your dad's face Highway on-ramp, heart in my throat Merge like a pro, I'm floating on a boat Dad turns the radio up, says that's my song We ride the whole loop singing along Sunset painting the hood orange gold Fifty miles deep and I'm feeling bold Hand me the keys tomorrow, I'll be on time Dad in the passenger, one more mile Green light go, green light go Dad said breathe, now I'm in the flow Hands on the wheel, eyes on the road Green light go, watch me roll Green light go, green light go Every mile makes the nerves let go Windows down and the speakers loud Learner today, tomorrow I'm proud Green light go Dad said breathe
