Every Reel Is Someone's Evening

Lyrics

The old cinema's reopening tonight
Fresh paint on the doors, and a brand new sign
The town has gathered underneath the light
Holding tickets in a long and winding line
They said the screen was finished, said the dream was done
But we saved the seats and we saved the reels
Now everybody's here and we're all as one
Feeling what the flickering light reveals

Lift the curtain, open wide
Everybody's coming inside

Every reel is someone's evening
Every frame a night to keep
Sing it out as the lights go down
Let the whole town laugh and weep
Every reel is someone's evening
Every seat holds someone's story
Raise your voice, let the music start
Every reel is someone's glory

A grandfather brings his granddaughter along
Shows her where he sat when he was seven
The projector hums its old familiar song
And the whole room glows like a little heaven
We clap for the credits, we clap for the crew
We clap for the ones who kept the doors
There's a place for me, there's a place for you
In the dark, where the silver pours

Lift the curtain, open wide
Everybody's coming inside

Every reel is someone's evening
Every frame a night to keep
Sing it out as the lights go down
Let the whole town laugh and weep
Every reel is someone's evening
Every seat holds someone's story
Raise your voice, let the music start
Every reel is someone's glory

Hold the door for the ones behind
Save a seat for a friend
When the picture ends, we'll still be here
Singing till the very end

Every reel is someone's evening
Every frame a night to keep
Sing it out as the lights go down
Let the whole town laugh and weep
Every reel is someone's evening
Every seat holds someone's story
Raise your voice, let the music start
Every reel is someone's glory

Every reel
Every evening
Every one of us
Is glory
